Customer Advisor

Location: Totton, Southampton

Salary: £10.90 p/h

About the Role

Reporting to the Store Management team, you will be a highly responsible and visible member of the Customer Service team, making an impact from day one. You'll also represent our client professionally to local veterinary practices, trainers, and other complementary businesses.

Our client specializes in fresh feeding and animal enrichment, aiming to revolutionize the way caregivers shop for their pets in a supermarket-style store. An understanding of these elements is desirable.

Work Schedule

The role is part-time, requiring 20-24 hours a week on a rolling rota that includes days, evenings, opens, closes, and on/off weekends. Additional hours may be available to cover leave and sickness.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and suggest appropriate foods, meal preparation, snacks, and food rewards

  • Provide expert harness fittings, if the animal is comfortable

  • Offer suggestions for supplements and herbal remedies

  • Recommend training, play, and bed products

  • Handle in-store replenishment, picking and packing home deliveries, and click and collect orders

  • Sometimes manage goods-in deliveries

  • Attain defined KPIs

  • Maintain high store standards of cleanliness and hygiene

Skills

  • Eagerness and ability to acquire extensive product knowledge and share this with customers

  • Ability to engage with customers and gain buy-in on new concepts

  • Physical fitness to lift heavy products up to 16kg

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Hard-working and proactive attitude

  • Predominantly hands-off approach with animals

Experience

  • Demonstrable excellent customer service skills in a retail environment

  • Experience with cashing up, closing down, and key holding is a bonus (training will be provided)

  • Preference for candidates with previous pet food and accessories retail experience

  • Natural feeding experience is desirable (training will be provided)

  • Some knowledge of holistic dog and cat care is beneficial, as is an understanding of basic animal training methods
